Looking back at DICE Copenhagen

Key takeaways from the Digital Identity unConference Europe

Our recap of the Digital Identity unConference Europe (DICE) in Copenhagen: Europe is making real progress on the EUDI Wallet, but there is still plenty of work ahead.

Looking back at DICE Copenhagen

Last week, we joined the Digital Identity unConference Europe (DICE) in Copenhagen. Unlike a traditional conference, DICE is all about open discussions, allowing participants to shape the agenda around the topics that matter most.

One thing became clear throughout the event: Europe is making real progress, but there is still plenty of work ahead.

Our key takeaways:

  • Many Member States are taking a phased approach to the EUDI Wallet, launching with a limited set of capabilities before expanding over time.
  • The European Business Wallet is gaining significant momentum. Many see practical business use cases as a key driver for adoption, with strong potential for organisations across Europe.
  • Conversations are shifting beyond technology. Business models, interoperability, trust frameworks, and large-scale implementation are becoming just as important as the technical specifications.
  • Agentic AI continues to gain traction. As autonomous AI systems evolve, digital identity, verifiable mandates, and trust will play an increasingly important role.

For us, one of the highlights was connecting with the people helping shape Europe's identity specifications. Sharing experiences from real-world implementations and discussing practical use cases helps ensure that standards don't just work on paper, but also in practice.

A big thank you to everyone we met in Copenhagen. Looking forward to continuing these conversations as Europe's digital trust ecosystem continues to evolve.
