The July Credenco Newsletter is here

Welcome to the July edition of the Credenco Newsletter!

June has been another exciting month for Credenco and the European Digital Identity ecosystem. From participating in leading industry events such as Identity Week Europe, DICE, and the ECP Symposium to advancing our Business Wallet platform with new features and contributing to European research initiatives, we've continued to help bridge the gap between digital identity strategy and real-world implementation.

In this edition, we share key insights from the events we attended, highlight our latest product developments, celebrate an important achievement within our team, and invite you to join us this September at Business Wallets in Action, where the European Business Wallet ecosystem comes together to demonstrate what's possible in practice.

Events we attended past month

  • ECP Symposium on the European Business Wallet: On 2 June, we participated in the ECP Platform voor de InformatieSamenleving Symposium on the European Business Wallet (EBW), where public and private stakeholders came together to discuss the future of trusted digital business interactions in Europe. The event focused on topics including secure onboarding, identity verification, interoperability, and cross-border data exchange, while highlighting the growing role of the European Business Wallet in building a trusted digital ecosystem.
  • Identity Week Europe: We attended Identity Week Europe in Amsterdam, one of Europe's leading events for digital identity. Compared to previous years, it was clear that the market is rapidly moving from policy discussions towards practical implementation. Digital wallets, verifiable credentials, and wallet-based identity verification were no longer niche topics, they were central themes across the exhibition floor. A notable development was the increasing focus on the Business Wallet, alongside the growing involvement of Identity Verification (IDV) providers integrating wallet capabilities into their onboarding solutions. Throughout the event, valuable discussions with wallet providers, QTSPs, government organisations, and ecosystem partners reinforced that the European trust infrastructure is transitioning from vision to real-world deployment. The event also highlighted the importance of collaboration and live demonstrations to accelerate adoption across the ecosystem.
  • WE BUILD Consortium Workshop: On 10 and 11 June, we joined the WE BUILD Consortium Workshop in Amsterdam to continue shaping the future of the European Business Wallet. Together with consortium partners, we worked on key building blocks for interoperability, including identity matching, trust infrastructure, automation, mandates, and wallet security. These collaborative sessions bring us another step closer to making interoperable Business Wallets a practical reality across Europe.
  • Digital Identity unConference Europe (DICE): From 22 to 24 June, we joined Digital Identity unConference Europe in Copenhagen, where governments, enterprises, and innovators came together to discuss the future of digital identity. Through open roundtable discussions, we explored topics such as the EUDI Wallet, Business Wallets, interoperability, verifiable credentials, and digital trust. One of the key takeaways was that, while the European ecosystem is making strong progress, many organisations are still looking for practical guidance. Questions around wallet architectures, the role of Business and Employee Wallets, implementation strategies, and interoperability remain highly relevant. The unconference provided an excellent opportunity to openly exchange experiences, discuss real-world technical and business challenges, and strengthen relationships across the European identity ecosystem.
  • TruPASS Project Kick-off: We also joined the official kick-off of the TruPASS project at Eindhoven University of Technology. Together with fourteen consortium partners, we're proud to contribute to this five-year research initiative funded by the NWO (Dutch Research Council). TruPASS focuses on strengthening trust within Digital Product Passport (DPP) ecosystems by combining expertise from academia, industry and technology. As a consortium partner, Credenco contributes its expertise in digital identity, Verifiable Credentials and trust infrastructure, helping to build secure, interoperable and scalable Digital Product Passport ecosystems.

Product Updates

  • Expanded Language Support: We've added Spanish translations to the Business Wallet and Dutch translations to the Personal Wallet, making the platform more accessible and improving the experience for users across different regions.
  • Redesigned Login Experience: The Credenco Login page has been refreshed with a cleaner design and now includes a live news feed, making it easier for users to stay informed about the latest updates while accessing the platform.
  • Improved Personal Wallet Experience: Users can now view Verifiable Credential (VC) documents directly within the Personal Wallet. We've also improved credential management by allowing credentials to be displayed in a more logical order, making navigation faster and more intuitive.
  • Enhanced Visual Support: The platform now supports SVG company logos and backgrounds, as well as data URI-encoded images, providing greater flexibility for branding and ensuring high-quality visuals across different use cases.

Business Wallets in Action: Experience the Future of Digital Trust

Across every event we attended this month, one message stood out: the conversation is no longer about whether digital wallets will become part of our digital infrastructure, but how organisations can implement them successfully.

At Identity Week Europe, the ECP Symposium, and DICE, we repeatedly heard the same questions:

  • How do Business, Personal, and Employee Wallets work together?
  • How do organisations onboard businesses using wallets?
  • How can verifiable credentials be used in real business processes?
  • How do all stakeholders (from QTSPs and Business Registries to wallet providers and relying parties) fit into one interoperable ecosystem?

To answer these questions, Credenco is proud to co-organise Business Wallets in Action on 15 September 2026 in Utrecht together with the FIDES - Accelerating Digital Trust Community, Digidentity, and Sphereon.

This is not another conference about legislation or technical specifications. It's a hands-on event where the ecosystem comes together to demonstrate how Business Wallets work in practice.

You'll experience:

  • Live demonstrations of Business Wallet use cases
  • Real-world onboarding and KYC scenarios
  • Sessions on eGovernment, Supply Chain, HR and eCommerce
  • Insights from wallet providers, QTSPs, issuers and relying parties
  • Opportunities to connect with organisations actively building Europe's digital trust ecosystem

Whether you're exploring Business Wallets for the first time or already preparing for implementation, this event offers practical knowledge, valuable discussions and the opportunity to experience the future of digital trust firsthand.

Register today for Business Wallets in Action and join us on 15 September in Utrecht. We look forward to welcoming you!

Save the Date

  • 15-16 July: WE BUILD BU2 on-site meeting in San Sebastian. The objective of the workshop is to provide an architecture overview, align implementation approaches, identify interoperability challenges, and prepare for pilot execution.

Our People

A special thank you to Pieter Mortier for his outstanding contribution during his graduation internship at Credenco.

Over the past few months, Pieter has been conducting research into "OpenID Federation within the Business Wallet". His work explored how trust anchors can be used to establish trusted relationships between participants in a federation, making it possible to verify that a credential originates from a trusted and legitimate issuer. This research is an important building block for creating secure, interoperable, and scalable digital identity ecosystems.

Pieter successfully graduated with an impressive 8.5, reflecting both the quality of his research and his dedication throughout the project. His analytical mindset, eagerness to learn, and ability to translate complex concepts into practical insights have made a valuable contribution to the Credenco ecosystem.

Innovation is driven by people who continuously look for better ways to solve challenges, and Pieter has certainly set a great example through his curiosity, commitment, and collaborative spirit.

We're excited about what's ahead and look forward to welcoming Pieter to the Credenco team in the near future. We look forward to building the future of digital identity together!

Closing

Thank you for being part of the Credenco community and helping make digital trust tangible through real tools, product innovation, and collaboration. We look forward to shaping the next edition with your contributions.
