The WE BUILD Consortium has officially started

The WE BUILD Consortium has officially launched — and Credenco is proud to contribute as a Beneficiary Partner in Work Package 2: Wallet for Business.

WE BUILD is one of Europe's most significant cross-border digital identity initiatives, funded under the European Digital Identity framework. The consortium brings together governments, financial institutions, technology companies, and wallet providers from across the EU to develop a fully interoperable, standards-based digital identity infrastructure.

Work Package 2 focuses specifically on the needs of businesses — a dimension that is often underrepresented in identity projects that centre on consumer use cases. Credenco's role is to bring its expertise in verifiable credential issuance, holder services, and business wallet infrastructure to help define what the European Business Wallet standard should look like in practice.

The project will run through 2027 and deliver interoperable wallet solutions that work across all EU member states. For businesses, this means a future where onboarding a new supplier, verifying a partner's regulatory status, or confirming employee qualifications happens in seconds — not days — and without friction across borders.
