Credenco Newsletter May 2026

Welcome to the May edition of the Credenco Newsletter, your monthly update on the latest progress, product developments, and activities across the Credenco ecosystem. Each month, we highlight key milestones, introduce new features, and share ways to engage with our community and initiatives.

This month, we highlight key milestones including the launch of our renewed website, progress across WE BUILD Consortium workshops, advancements in our trust layer, and ongoing product innovations, alongside continued developments in digital identity and interoperability across Europe.

Highlights

  • DSGO Hackathon: the UP-tempo project was brought to life during the 5-day digiGO.nu hackathon, securing 3rd place out of 9 teams. The case demonstrated how digital product passports and verifiable data can be applied across the construction chain, supported through collaboration with HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht), Quintessence Research B.V., and Helmer Van Merendonk.
  • Website Launch: our renewed website is now live, marking an important milestone in Credenco's journey. It serves as a central hub for updates, developments, and real-world use cases that demonstrate how our technology delivers value in practice. Users can now also create their own Business Wallet directly via the website and experience the solution firsthand.
  • On-site Workshop in Frankfurt: during the WE BUILD Consortium workshop in Frankfurt, hosted by Deutsche Bank, we advanced the corporate banking use case for the EU Digital Identity Wallet and Business Wallet. Sessions focused on defining roles and mandates and exploring real-life wallet interactions, with valuable input from partners including Bundesanzeiger Verlag GmbH, Bosch, and Digidentity.
  • Personal Wallet Refresh: the renewed Personal Wallet is nearing launch with a redesigned interface and a more intuitive experience for managing digital identity, credentials, and data. It works seamlessly with the Business Wallet, connecting personal identity and organisational roles within one trusted ecosystem.
  • TIP Spring Event: during the TIP spring event, insights were shared on the European Business Wallet, highlighting its role in simplifying digital business processes, enabling secure data sharing, and supporting cross-border interoperability across the EU.
  • BLSP-EDI Meeting: a well-attended session at Jaarbeurs Utrecht brought together stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in European legislation, Dutch policy, and progress within initiatives such as WE BUILD Consortium and APTITUDE. The programme included insights from Betaalvereniging Nederland (Dutch Payments Association) on large-scale pilots, the Tot Uw Dienst project showcasing how EDI wallets can improve digital service delivery, and a presentation on the European Business Wallet.

Product Updates

  • Trust Layer Implementation: progress has been made on implementing the OpenID Federation trust layer, enabling step-by-step verification of entities within a trust chain. It is now possible to verify entities that are not directly visible to the verifier but are part of the underlying trust structure, allowing organisations to be linked to a federation while keeping intermediate entities hidden and enabling policy-based verification.
  • DID WebVH Support: we have added support for DID WebVH, expanding our decentralized identity capabilities with a production grade method designed for stronger integrity and transparency. DID WebVH introduces verifiable history, allowing every change to a DID document to be tracked and audited over time, and enhances security through tamper-evident versioning anchored in cryptographic proofs.
  • Wallet Creation API: a new public API now allows organisations to programmatically create Business Wallets, removing the need for manual setup and speeding up onboarding.
  • Identifier & Key Management APIs: new APIs make it easier to manage wallet identifiers and cryptographic keys, including support for multiple identifier types (X.509, JWK, DID Web, DID WebVH, DID EBSI and DID JWK) and secure key generation via cloud and enterprise systems, while ensuring private keys are never exposed.
  • Credentials & Inbox APIs: improved public APIs enable organisations to retrieve and manage credentials more easily, including filtering, pagination, and direct delivery of credentials into a wallet inbox through automated flows.
  • Expanded Credential & Format Support: the platform now supports additional credential standards, including mdoc and X.509-based issuance, alongside existing formats, enabling broader interoperability and compliance with evolving identity frameworks.
  • Improved User & Account Experience: enhancements to the web wallet include multilingual support (now including Portuguese) and a direct link to account management, allowing users to easily update personal details and security settings.

Save the Date

15 September: join the Business Wallets in Action event focused on real-world applications of the EUDI Wallet, covering use cases such as onboarding and KYC, supply chains, mandates and HR, and eCommerce. Organised together with FIDES - Accelerating Digital Trust, Digidentity, Sphereon and FIDES Labs, the event brings together the full ecosystem from issuance to implementation. Opportunities are available for co-organisers to present use cases, host breakouts, and share practical experiences.
