Credenco Newsletter: October 2026 edition

Two FIDES awards, European events and new wallet features

A look back at a busy September: two FIDES Community Awards, the European Business Wallet on stage in Geneva, Utrecht and Stockholm, and full HAIP support in our Professional and Business Wallets.

Credenco Newsletter: October 2026 edition

Welcome to the October edition of the Credenco Newsletter.

Over the past month we have continued to turn digital trust into practical solutions, with major progress across our Personal and Business Wallets. From new wallet features and improved user experiences to interoperability testing and real-world Business Wallet use cases, we are helping move digital identity and verifiable credentials from concept to implementation.

In this edition we highlight recent product improvements, our growing involvement in European initiatives such as WE BUILD, and the events and collaborations bringing the digital trust ecosystem together across Europe.

Highlights

  • Global Digital Collaboration Conference and CERN, Geneva, 1 to 3 September. Ruben Wonink and Eelco Klaver CISSP attended GDC 2026, exploring international collaborations. Eelco presented on behalf of the WE BUILD Consortium about the European Business Wallet, covering representation, delegation, governance, AI agents, and machine-to-machine interactions. The trip concluded with a private tour of CERN.
  • Business Wallets in Action, Utrecht, 15 September. Together with FIDES Labs, Digidentity and Sphereon we organised an afternoon featuring 11 practical sessions and live demonstrations. With Bundesanzeiger Verlag GmbH and Centric, we showcased real-world Business Wallet use cases, while Kristian T. Sørensen from IN Groupe shared insights from Denmark and the Nordics.
  • Two FIDES Community Awards, 15 September. Credenco won both the Best Business Wallet 2026 award for the Credenco Business Wallet and the Impact Award 2026 for the digital VOG pilot with Justis. We received the highest number of community votes and the highest expert jury scores in both categories.
  • WE BUILD SC1, Professional Wallet demo, 21 September. We demonstrated the Credenco Professional Wallet, showcasing its role in the European Business Wallet ecosystem. The Professional Wallet is a hybrid mobile wallet app that both stores personal credentials and connects to any of your business wallets, which enables sharing and receiving of business credentials.
  • ECP Symposium on the European Business Wallet, Utrecht, 22 September. Together with the Nederlandse Autoriteit Uitleenmarkt (NAU), Ruben demonstrated how permits under the new Wtta legislation can be issued, managed, shared, and verified as digital evidence through a Business Wallet.
  • WE BUILD WP4 interoperability event, Stockholm, 22 and 23 September. Eelco represented Credenco at the event organised by Digg, focusing on connecting and testing wallets, issuers, trust infrastructure, and QTSPs. The goal was to test the complete chain and contribute to practical interoperability guidelines.
  • Centric Relatiedag, 23 September. Ruben joined Centric and VNG for the session "eIDAS 2.0: the wallet in practice". A live demo showed how a digital permit can be received, presented, and verified within the municipal domain.
  • France Identité Playground. The Credenco Issuer and Verifier are now officially available in the France Identité Playground, supporting interoperability testing and advancing the cross-border use of verifiable credentials across Europe.

Product updates

  • Expanded wallet language support. Spanish is now available in the Business Wallet, while Dutch has been added to the Mobile Wallet, making the experience more accessible to users across Europe.
  • Improved login experience. The Credenco login page has been redesigned with a cleaner interface and a live news feed, making it easier for users to stay up to date.
  • Enhanced Mobile Wallet. Users can now view Verifiable Credential documents directly in the Mobile Wallet and reorder their credentials for a more organised and personalised experience.
  • Improved branding support. The wallets now support SVG logos and backgrounds, as well as data URI-encoded images, providing more flexibility for branding and visual customisation.
  • HAIP interoperability. The Professional Wallet and Business Wallet now support the full OpenID4VC High Assurance Interoperability Profile (HAIP). HAIP defines how wallets, issuers and verifiers use OpenID for Verifiable Credential Issuance and OpenID for Verifiable Presentations, covering both SD-JWT VC and ISO mdoc credential formats. It is the profile the European Digital Identity framework relies on for high-assurance exchanges. As a result, our wallets can securely receive and present credentials with any HAIP-compliant issuer or verifier across Europe, including EUDI Wallet ecosystems and the Large Scale Pilots.

Save the date

  • 9 October, WE BUILD midterm review meeting, Brussels. The WE BUILD consortium presents its progress to the European Commission at the midterm review of the Large Scale Pilot. Credenco contributes as wallet provider and member of the architecture group (WP4).
  • 3 and 4 November, WE BUILD general assembly, Bucharest. The WE BUILD consortium meets to review progress across the work packages and plan the next phase of the Large Scale Pilot. Credenco takes part in a number of use cases and as wallet provider and member of the architecture group (WP4), sharing results from our recent interoperability testing and showing some nice demos.

Our people

A special thank you to Eelco Klaver CISSP for preparing the demos and presentations for all the events we attended in the past month.

In September we took the stage in Geneva, Utrecht and Stockholm. Behind almost every session was Eelco's work. He built the story behind our European Business Wallet talk at GDC, prepared the live Professional Wallet demo for WE BUILD, and made sure the permit demos for NAU and Centric ran smoothly on stage. In Stockholm he tested the full chain of wallets, issuers, trust infrastructure and QTSPs with our WE BUILD partners. His demos turn complex standards into something people can see and try for themselves. That helped carry the Credenco Business Wallet to two FIDES Community Awards, and it shows clients, partners and the wider ecosystem that business wallets work in practice today.

Eelco combines deep technical expertise with a talent for explaining it clearly, and he is always willing to go the extra mile to make our technology shine.

Closing

Thank you for being part of the Credenco community and helping make digital trust tangible through real tools, product innovation and collaboration.

We look forward to sharing more updates with you in next month's edition.
