Credenco Newsletter: September Edition

Opening

Welcome to the September edition of the Credenco Newsletter!

September is set to be a busy month for Credenco, with several international conferences, consortium meetings and events taking place across Europe. From Geneva and Utrecht to Tallinn, we'll be sharing our experiences, demonstrating practical Business Wallet use cases and contributing to the European conversation around digital identity and trust.

In this edition, we highlight our FIDES Awards nominations, look ahead to our September activities, share insights from the Global Digital Conference, and take a closer look at Business Wallets in Action and the practical use cases already being implemented across Europe.

Highlights

  • FIDES Community Awards 2026: We're finalists in two categories: Best Business Wallet 2026, with the Credenco Business Wallet, and Impact Award 2026, with our Digital Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) as a Verifiable Credential use case.
  • Global Digital Collaboration Conference: On 2 September, we'll share insights from the WE BUILD Consortium on why Business Wallets require a different approach from Personal Wallets.
  • Business Wallets in Action: On 15 September, organisations from across the ecosystem will come together in Utrecht to demonstrate what Business Wallets are already doing in practice.

Product Updates

  • mDoc support: We can now verify incoming mDoc presentations and issue mDoc credentials, including the configuration of trusted IACA certificates.
  • French Wallet integration: We've completed onboarding on the French Playground, enabling us to verify the French wallet using mDoc.
  • Credential Catalog: The Credential Catalog now supports credential templates that can be automatically loaded and used, with configurations that can be set selectively per user.
  • Wallet interoperability: We've added support for the W3C Digital Credentials API on Android and OpenID4VCI integration via the Professional Wallet, further strengthening interoperability between wallets and credential ecosystems.
  • NL Wallet & PID: We've been working on integrating the NL Wallet to our Business Wallet's Issuance Service, allowing our Demo Person Identification Data (PID) to be issued to the NL Wallet.
  • Multilingual Wallet experience: The Credenco Wallet is becoming available in more European languages, including French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish.
  • Dark mode: Dark mode is now supported in the Credenco Wallet, providing users with a more flexible and comfortable interface.
  • Credential verification improvements: Verifier templates can now be customised and configured with specific verification policies, providing more flexibility when setting up credential verification flows.
  • Website & ecosystem updates: We've added a FIDES Awards voting page, expanded the Credenco website with a digital credential glossary and continued expanding the website across European languages.

Event: Business Wallets in Action, 15 September in Utrecht

On 15 September, together with the FIDES Community, we are organising the Business Wallets in Action event in Utrecht. We would like to invite you and your colleagues to join us.

Under the theme "Business Wallets in Action", the programme features no fewer than twelve sessions in which organisations will demonstrate how they are already using Business Wallets today. The focus is not only on what Business Wallets may become in the future, but above all on what is already possible and being implemented right now.

Many discussions about Business Wallets currently focus on eIDAS 2.0, the European Business Wallet, the EUDI Wallet, and what will become mandatory and when. Understandably so, as many questions remain. What exactly does a Business Wallet look like? Is it really a wallet, or more of a platform? And what does it mean in practice for existing processes and systems?

During the event, we will make this tangible through concrete use cases, working demos and practical experiences.

A selection from the programme:

  • Keynote: Lessons from the Nordics: Kristian T. Sørensen of IN Groupe shares what we can learn from developments in the Nordic countries.
  • KYC/KYB for cross-border business banking: Louise de Laat, Bundesanzeiger Verlag GmbH
  • Employee Wallets in practice: A European Business Wallet connected to a Personal Wallet. Louise de Laat and Eelco Klaver, Bundesanzeiger Verlag GmbH and Credenco
  • Faster onboarding, with complete records from day one: Marlie van de Ven, ECHT Onderwijs, Kinderopvang & Zorg
  • Digital certificates of competency for seafarers: Arvid van der Bruggen, Kiwa Nederland
  • From legislation to operational services: Jimmy de Leeuw, Enable U
  • Trust in B2B e-commerce: Thuiswinkel.org and 3WebApps
  • Digital permit issuance: William van Weelden, Centric and Credenco
  • Stay in control of everyone who enters your organisation: Maarten Boender, Sphereon and Oribi

The programme also includes additional sessions on onboarding, government and compliance, HR, and e-commerce.

The regulations are coming, and organisations will need to be prepared. Adapting processes, integrating systems and bringing people on board takes months, not weeks. Those who only start when compliance becomes mandatory will have started too late.

On 2 September, Credenco will contribute to the session "A company has no fingers: why the European Business Wallet is not a personal wallet at scale" from 14:00–14:50 in Room Delta, sharing insights from the WE BUILD Consortium on organisational identity, representation and delegation, interoperability and trusted cross-border data exchange.
  • 15 September 2026, Business Wallets in Action, Utrecht: A hands-on event featuring twelve sessions showcasing how organisations are already using Business Wallets in practice. Credenco will present a practical case together with the Nederlandse Autoriteit Uitleenmarkt (NAU), showing how an authorisation can be made available as digital, verifiable evidence through the European Business Wallet. Lunch and networking drinks are included.
  • 22–23 September 2026, WE BUILD Interoperability Event, Stockholm: This event will be a hands-on technical workshop focused on implementation and interoperability for Wallet Providers. Participants will work on the complete technical chain, including EUDI Wallets with PIDs, EBWs with EBWOIDs, and the required trust infrastructure.
  • 23 September 2026, Centric event/session: Credenco will demonstrate the digital event permit use case, building on the practical application also showcased during Business Wallets in Action.
